A number of our on site conservation programs could be expanded through donations. All funds go directly to the programs and since these programs are run in developing nations US dollars go much further than they do in the states. We do not charge any overhead and unlike similar programs no animal will have concurrent adoptions. Here are some ideas. All make good birthday and Christmas presents for people who need conservation education. | |
Aurra program: It takes about one US dollar to raise a hatchling Podocnemus expansa to the 8-10 inch release size. Thus, a donation of one just one dollar will put one more headstarted immature into the Orinoco River at a size where it has a reasonable chance to become an adult. In the 2000-2001 period we are headstarting 20,000 individuals. Adopt a turtle, your help will be appreciated. |

Orinoco crocodile program: The young crocs cost about ten cents a day to maintain. Thus, it takes about $50 per animal to get them to a 1- 1.5 meter release size. The adult crocs (we have 21 of them) cost about $350 a year to feed. Adopt a hatchling and we will inform you of its identification number, the date and size of hatching, and its size and date of release. Adopt an adult for a year and we will send you a photograph of the animal, information on its history, and its current contribution to our breeding program. Those who adopt an adult for a year or a hatching will also be sent a summary of the year's activities for this program. Asian Turtle Conservation effort: Adopt a breeding pair of Asian turtles for a year. Cost is variable and dependent on species and which facility they are housed in. We will try to direct funds to southeast Asia but this will depend on which turtles are available. |
